The book’s not terrible. Not at all. The settings are well-drawn, the dialogue’s more than halfway decent, the reader can even tell one character from another — but, bottom line, it’s meh. With a shrug.
Something’s missing.

Well, if you follow all the advices of people who want to help you will never find your voice. As most authors I worked as an editor as well. And now the paradox, my best advice for authors, don’t follow other people’s advices. It doesn’t work.
