Ideally those in authority who have little to do with us will regard us fondly. This is easily arranged. Those who like preaching are invited to preach, those who have choirs are invited to bring them. Those who like good company are invited across for a pleasant supper. But for those who do have oversight, our association with them is more delicate. Ideally there should be nothing which might spoil the relationship.
