That is great advice. I just was scrolling through the reader of my followed sites, and I was reading a post of an award. I love to read those, and i noticed that I was nominated, but I did not get a notification about it??? They really need to fix that!
Side Note: I was referred to you from Kate McClelland in regards to a issue I have been having with my hyperlink. She said you are a wiz at this kind of stuff!
When I click it nothing happens. It like it was disabled or something. I have checked the forum, and I haven’t found anything in regards to this concern. I can’t even press the hyperlink button, it does nothing?
Any advice? I have so many posts that require a hyperlink…I hate plagiarism, and I have at least 3 posts as drafts because I don’t want to submit them until my hyperlink is fixed!

The hyperlink button in general. When you are creating a post, there is a hyperlink button, when I press it, nothing happens, and I do not know why or how to fix it. Also, when I go to the forum and try to log in, it is saying my username does not exist, and clearly it does because, here I am!!! I am so confused. I wish I could just call someone from WordPress.com…. so frustrating!!!!!

AhHa – Ok, If you want to embed a link into a word or phrase, you highlight the word or phrase, click the link icon and you should see a long window open up above or below the highlighted text.
Write, or paste, your link address in full – http://www.———
Then click on the little cogwheel icon to the right of the window where you put the link
That will open a new window showing you the URL, Link Text, etc.
Tick the box labelled ‘Open link in a new tab’
Then click the blue ‘Add Link’ button (bottom right)
SAVE WHAT YOU’VE DONE
Now you can preview your post, click on the linked text and it should open up a tab at the linked to page.
I recommend you use BOLD, UNDERLINE, ITALIC font and colour it blue for linked texts.

I completely understand this process, and I have done this in the past, but now, when I click the link icon, nothing happens. I mean NOTHING! Its like I am not even clicking it….

No, please…I appreciate your help! I need all the advice on this I can get. I am wondering if I can write my post on Microsoft Word, and hyperlink on their, and then cut and paste it into WordPress?

Yes, you CAN embed (and colour) the links in any word processing program, the only snag might be entering the highlighted text to tick the ‘Open in new tab’ box 😃
