Check out this article from Digital Book World about a new venture at Barnes and Noble to allow self-published writers to offer print versions in B&N venues, hopefully a step that will help keep them afloat. Chime in with your views on whether this new option is worth a look.

  1. Yes, there may be shortcomings, but I see this as a REALLY big deal. Not just on the self-publishing print side but on the in-store event possibility. Here’s what the article said: Moreover, authors who have sold 500 copies of a single ebook in the past year are eligible to participate in in-store events at B&N, including book-signings and discussions.

  2. Thanks for the reblog, Chris. I gathered the perks are only available to books published through Nook. I’ll be curious to hear how their quality compares to other providers like Ingram and CreateSpace.

  3. Very interesting. I read the piece and saw that there are barriers to entry though regarding minimum sales for placement, however the article doesn’t advise whether the minimum sales have to be paid sales or not. It also makes it sound like you have to publish your ebook via Nook Services, so I don’t know if a book published through Smashwords and distributed to Barnes and Noble would qualify.
