Great post, I try to let the reader think more and build their imagination. So half way, I think.

I might sometimes put a vague description forward – such as if they are ugly or dashing, for example – but it is nice to leave it to the reader’s imagination somewhat. Unless they have really nice hair – I might mention that.

Remember though to not put forward your judgment. Let decide the reader whether the character is ugly or stunning. You distance your readers away from the character (in most cases). Describe the hair, but don’t tell they are really nice 😉

Oh, the very nature of my writing means that I have to make a judgement – my readers would not expect anything less! 😉

Makes sense to let the reader use their imagination instead of describing absolutely everything about a character 🙂
