  1. Hi there, Just like to say a big thanks for putting Dave Burton on your site for editing. After he did a sample for me I was well pleased with his then doing my e book, which is now vastly improved from what I mistakenly thought was good.

  2. I’m glad it worked for you. Smashwords and associated sites never worked for me, I hardly sold anything there, so I decided to try Amazon exclusivity and take advantage of KU and all it offers.

  3. I have published on Amazon and Smashwords in the past, but will not be using Smashwords to publish any more books. The reason? Unlike Amazon, an author who publishes on Smashwords has no digital rights management (DRM) over their work (I have had this confirmed by the Smashwords team). I have come across websites, who for a fee, tell readers how they can download free copies of e-books (I found this out because I signed up for Google Alerts). One reader was asking how they could download a free copy of my book ‘The Porn Detective’, and they were told which sites to click on. If DRM had been applied to my work, then free copies would not have been available. Smashwords told me that DRM is not applied because ‘With the right know-how, anybody can get around it.’

    Hmm……

    • Thanks for that information Stevie
Yes there ARE probably ways to get around DRM, but why make it easy by not embedding it anyway…
Would it be possible for authors to embed their own books with DRM before publishing?
      ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW?
