AUTHORS – Do YOU add DIVERSITY to YOUR Novels? 😀

  1. Thanks for sharing this article Chris. As an African writer all my work is based on diversity of culture. I find it very interesting to learn about Europeans and Americans culture, the reason I read, but only few read books by an Africa writer, so they lack knowledge over many things. Many times I wish there can be exchange of program, whereby few Europeans could go to Africa to find out the reason they are happy, despite all the problems and diseases, whilst the developed world despite all that they have commit suicide daily. Frankly speaking, if people would stop underestimating Africa, they could learn a lot from them.

    • Hi Joel – in July 2013, I participated in a Worldreader African Authors & Books Promotional tour – if you click the following link, you’ll find the list of dates for each promo and should also find the authors posts on those dates if you look through the posts from 16th to 27th July 2013 😀

  2. One of the characters in my story, Samantha is mixed race, (Lisa has a father from the Caribbean community and a white mother). Although I am disabled I have only written one short story, contained in my collection “Sting In The Tail” containing a disabled person who, incidentally behaves in a rather unexpected manner! Interesting post. Thanks for reblogging. Kevin

    • I’m glad you are including people of color on your work as well as people with disabilities. It’s a powerful way to break stereotypes.
