Meet Guest Author N N Light (Mrs. N)

Author Picture

Hi everyone, my name is N. N. Light and I am the author of Princess of the Light. All my friends call me MRS N so feel free to call me that. I was so excited to be asked to be spotlighted here at the Story Reading Ape. I am happily married to MR N for ten blissful years. I love all things chocolate, baking, reading, writing and sports. My favorite sport is the NFL but the MLB comes in a close second. My favorite teams include the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.

Have you ever met someone who seemed to be born with a gift? It could be anything from athletics to logic puzzles. I was born with the gift of words. From the time I was little, I loved words and wove together words in a way that astonished my family. As I grew older and learned how to write, I created stories and shared them with others.

I graduated from school with all the tools necessary to become a great writer. But, life got in the way and my dream of becoming a writer got pushed aside. It wasn’t until I met my husband that I started thinking about writing again.

Three years ago, I met a man who would change my life forever. I am a walker and I walk over twenty miles a week. I do this not only for exercise, but also because I do not drive. I gave up my car years ago and walk/take mass transit wherever I go.

Anyway, I was walking to the grocery store and I turned to my left to see a homeless man in his fifties sitting on the curb in front of a gas station. I remember this part clearly: it was a cold sunny day in November and here he was, head upturned to the sun, smiling. Pure happiness was etched across his weathered face.

I stopped walking and stared unabashedly at him. It had been a long time since I had seen an adult, much less a homeless man, glowing with such happiness and joy. Questions started hammering my head.

Why is he so happy?

What is he smiling about?

Why isn’t he asking for money as people pass him?

What is his story and how did he wind up homeless?

The more questions I asked myself, the more curious I became.

What if you had the power to help him?” A voice echoed in my head.

I shook it as if to clear it. I didn’t answer the voice. Instead I did my grocery shopping and went home. The voice wouldn’t leave me alone.

The world has forgotten how to be kind. It is your destiny to show the world how to spread the Light and help forgotten people like him.”

What can I do? I am just one woman.” I replied this time.

This is why you were given the gift of words and writing. Tell his story.”

I wasn’t sure where to start or what the voice meant. I sat at my computer and started writing. The words poured out of me and nine months later, the manuscript of Princess of the Light was complete.

I wrote Princess of the Light to tell the story of the Walking Man and others like him who are homeless. He is someone’s father, brother, uncle, son, friend. He matters and he needs our help. I made a promise to myself that if/when my book was published, I would donate part of the proceeds to Food Banks. With only 6,122 books sold, I will be able to create a monthly endowment for my local food bank. The more books get sold, the more endowments I will be able to create. With your help, we will be able to end hunger in America, Canada and the world!

My road to being published was an adventure. There were some bumps and detours along the way. There were times when I felt like giving up. But then I would see the Walking Man and I was inspired to keep going. I have so many people to thank along the way and they are too many to name here. Being an indie author can be a lonely path but I have surrounded myself by talented and inspiring people. I call them #TeamPOTL. Now comes the fun part: spreading the word about my book and spreading the Light to all!

Gabriel, the Archangel and Messenger of God – yeah that Gabriel, visited Mary Miller. He told her, as the key she is destined to spread the Light and vanquish the Darkness. Her first assignment is to restore the soul the Walking Man. Sounds simple enough until she’s thrown in the face of evil, and then Joe Deacons enters her heart. This battle just got a lot more complicated. She must complete her mission without losing all she loves.

  1. N.N., I had goose bumps reading this. What an inspiring road to authorhood. I’m also a walker, and I carry quarters (it’s all I can afford) in my pocket to give to all the homeless I meet along the way. May you have endless income for your Food Bank endowments. Shared on FB, LI, Twitter 🙂

  4. Hello Mrs. N, I was able to get one of your free books from Smashswords a while back. I am just now getting time to read it. I started it last night, (Tuesday Oct.21) and I like it so far. I got the book from one of your posts to promise to read and review it. I apologize for not getting it done sooner, but I am on it now. Good luck with your sales and it is a worthy cause to give to the Food Banks. I did have some trouble getting it to open at first. But I got that straightened out now.
