Meet Guest Author Martha Jette

MeWriting has been a huge part of my life for over 30 years. I used to be a writer/editor/photographer and even layout artist for a magazine in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. One year later, I was hired as a journalist (editor/photographer) for a local newspaper chain.

I love writing because it gives me the opportunity to share news, to teach something that others might not know about or to introduce readers to other interesting people in the community and world. I have never been an extrovert, so writing provides a platform on which to open up to others through the written word.

In 1994, I fell suddenly ill with fibromyalgia and my entire world changed. As an editor and mother of two, I found I could no longer be that go getter who often worked more hours that necessary just to get a story and could not go to so many of my girls’ events. Unfortunately, this illness sucked the life right out of me and after two years of still trying to keep up, I finally had to leave the job I loved. Family, of course, must always come first.

Glimpse-1However, I never stopped writing and self-published my first book – Glimpses: True Stories of the Paranormal just two years later. From then on, there was no stopping me. I had another half dozen books accepted by a publisher. But… all good things do come to an end, which occurred this past year when my publisher fell on hard times.

Thankfully, the digital world was in full swing so I jumped on board with renewed gusto. In the past five months, I have self-published one of my former books, another is due out soon and three new ones are now listed on Amazon sites in various countries.

Glimpses 2-2As to what genre I write in, well, it’s kind of a mixed bag. My first two, including Glimpses 2: (it could happen to you!), a much larger book also relates true paranormal tales on everything from ghosts and hauntings to angels, demons, ESP, past lives, reincarnation, predictive dreams and more. This work will soon be available as an ebook.

TotallyScaredCoversmall3I also had the opportunity to co-write a book entitled Totally Scared: The Complete Book On Haunted Houses. We both sought out people who knew first hand what it was like to live in a haunted house and added other chapters on such topics as where to go for help, what ghost hunters do, famous and not-so famous haunted houses, how to create one yourself and much more. This one is due out as an ebook soon as well. You can learn more about it by clicking on the link above.

As you might have guessed, I lean heavily toward paranormal tales and that is because I have had quite a number of personal experiences in this area that opened up my mind to the fact that such things really do happen. With the influx of stories I received for the second book (90 of them!), I further realized that people worldwide are having strange things happen in their lives all the time.

pwdcoverthumb-2Another of my works is a book entitled Playing With The Devil, which is a novel based on a true story of the horrid abuses (mental, physical and sexual) of 12 children in one Newfoundland family. The eldest child contacted me and he then sent me many pages related not only to what actually occurred but also interviews he had with the RCMP over the years.

These crimes happened 50 years ago but because many professional bigwigs were involved, no one was ever charged. Naturally, I was sick at heart for the children (now adults), who still suffer because of what happened to them and I felt I had to write this book so their story could be told.

BloodVengeance(small)-1I have also had published two fiction tales – Blood Vengeance: (Cold Case #4-183) Not of this World, a paranormal/crime novel and spin-off of Playing With The Devil in which the oldest child in the above noted book exacts his revenge and The Man With The Magic Spectacle, co-written at the request of an author from India.

LittleAngelThere is also one children’s book in the mix entitled Talking To My Angel, a tale about a little girl who has her very own guardian angel. I had read quite a lot about children who saw and/or communicated with angels, as well as those who had invisible friends. I wrote this book for them so they would know they are not alone. Most recently, I published three ebooks on UFOs and aliens. To be honest with you, I was and to some degree still am a skeptic. The only reason I even wrote about these things was after I learned about a doctor and former military man who suffered immensely when aliens unexpectedly entered his life. In fact, he lost everything for quite some time before he could pull his life back together again. His personal story touched me and led me to seek out others with similar tales – and much to my surprise, there were many of them. We’re talking about ordinary people who have had or still are having extraordinary experiences.

Those three books are:

As noted earlier, I love anything paranormal so I write a regular column for the Examiner.com

I also provide professional editing services and write book reviews, which I post at MJBookReviews I also add the reviews to all of the major book sites and in a book review group, which I operate on the Book Marketing Network. As well, I was recently named senior editor for Bangari Content Gallery

In my most precious free hours, I enjoy spending time with my adult children and three amazing grandchildren. I also like to pick up old angel statues – big and small – that I find at second hand stores, bring them home and paint them to make them beautiful again. I also enjoy painting with oils and acrylics, God’s glorious nebula (forming universes) as captured by the Hubble telescope.
