What can I say about Robert J. Sawyer?
He is one of Canada’s best known and most successful science fiction writers, although I’d only come across him in UK when I read Hominids some time ago.
He is the only Canadian (and one of only 7 writers in the world) to have won all three of the top international awards for science fiction:
The 1995 Nebula Award for ‘The Terminal Experiment’ The 2003 Hugo Award for ‘Hominids’ The 2006 John W. Campbell Memorial Award for ‘Mindscan’
He is a prolific writer and his stories include:
Neanderthal Parallax Series (3 Books) about Neanderthals of a parallel world, where they became the dominant intelligence.
WWW Series (3 Books) about a sentient World Wide Web.
Quintaglio Series (3 Books) about Sentinent Saurians.
Other, non-series books include: ‘Flashforward’,’Calculating God’, ‘Rollback’, ‘The Terminal Experiment’, ‘Factoring Humanity’, ‘Mindscan’, ‘Frameshift’, ‘Illegal Alien’, ‘Triggers’, ‘Starplex’, ‘End of an Era’, ‘Golden Fleece’, ‘Iterations’, ‘Identity Theft And Other Stories’, ‘Red Planet Blues’, ‘Relativity’, ‘Tesseracts6’, ‘Hybrids’ & ‘Stream of Consciousness’

I do not remember seeing any of his books in the local bookstores.
I am not even sure if they have them.
It is sad that most big publishing companies in Indonesia are playing it safe by printing “very famous” books like Harry Potter and Twilight.
I am very sure that they did not have Lord of the Rings before The Fellowship of The Rings was released as a movie!

That’s where the advantage of having an eReader, iPad Tablet or a computer comes into play Hari.
You can download books directly onto them.
You don’t have to rely on the local bookstores to get the books you want.
Don’t get me wrong, There is nothing nicer than having a good book in your hand, but in situations like yours, the eBook has decided advantages.

You are right about the advantage of e-book.
I just happen to love hunting for books.
I do not mind second-hand items or old discounted books.
I got the old copy of “The Silmarillion” by visiting an old-book market. 😀
I am also very lucky to have friends living in other cities and countries who always help me in finding books.
E-book is wonderful but it will always be my last resort.
I guess I am very old-fashioned.
I love holding the books and smell the old (or new) pages as I flip them. 😀
