I regret to say that the latest so called ‘Wordpress enhancements’ have left me with no way to add embedded links, or even see the editing options in a form I can use.
So I am cancelling my dot com address which will revert to a WordPress address so I can continue to follow you guys and leave likes and the occasional comments.
I will continue to post my Monday Funnies for as long as possible, but unable to post links to writing articles.
I’ve enjoyed being part of the writers community immensely over the past 14 years and hope I’ve helped you talented writers in some small way.
If you don’t see any Monday Funnies posts, you’ll know that WordPress has completely screwed me up.
Love you all and thank you for the journey and your stories.
Chris Graham (aka TSRA)

I hope your absence is only temporary.

😪. I, and I’m sure all your other readers, will miss you. I sincerely hope you can sort it out with WordPress.
If they don’t stop messing around, and ‘improving’ things, they’re going to find they’re losing subscribers. But I suppone they have to give work to their ‘engineers’ if that’s what they call themselves.

I really dislike when wp tries to upgrade things!

Me too, Beth, I can usually adapt, but this time they’ve got me foxed 🤗

Chris, this is distressing! I don’t get to read every one of your posts, but I try to catch most of them. I always learn something. The writing community will miss you! I have a WordPress blog, but I haven’t had any recent problems. I hope you can get this straightened out.

Does this affect only the plan you’re on? I’m on the Personal plan (the one where you pay for no ads on your posts), and haven’t had problems adding links. Unless this happened in the past day or two.
I hope there’s some way to fix the problem, Chris. Many of us depend on you for those articles.

I’m on a free plan with a bought .com domain name, but that’s never been a problem until now, Audrey 🤗

I added 2 external links to a post (never to be published) that I use for testing things. At first the links didn’t work in the preview, but after I refreshed the preview, they became “live.”
Don’t know if this makes sense, but hope it helps.

What has WordPress done, Chris? I haven’t had any recent enhancements, so I’m wondering what they are doing to you.

They’ve disappeared the editing options header and replaced it with a drop down menu that doesn’t seem to work, or at least, I can’t get it to work.

I hope it is a glitch and you can get back to what you do best. WP keeps messing around and sooner of later it’s going to crash. Or we will find ourselves on Substack. (ugh)
