As a writer who cherishes the creative process, I have spent the last few years grappling with both the possibilities and pitfalls this new technology brings.
On the one hand, AI offers tools that can make our lives easier—such as helping with research, marketing, and even ideation. On the other hand, it raises questions about originality, authenticity, and the integrity of human storytelling.

Interesting article. I’ve wondered recently how I could use AI for my writing and this has given me a lot to think about. Also, this quote is too class in relation to embracing AI or not ‘Resistance born of denial ultimately harms no one more than ourselves.’

I have not yet discovered a single reason why I would get any benefit out of using AI in the writing process. By contrast, having my work stolen in order to ‘train’ AI continues to this day. The data scraping has not stopped because there are, as yet, no regulations to force Big Tech to adhere to existing copyright restrictions.
Accepting the current form of AI as a fait accompli reinforces Big Tech’s assumption that it’s easier, and cheaper, to steal first and say sorry after than it is to abide by the rule of law that applies to every other human on the planet.
I love tech, but I do not love AI, and I won’t condone it just because ‘the genie is out of the bottle’.
