I think that short stories these days don’t always get the respect they deserve. Maybe some think that it is lazy writing, but there is a distinct challenge in the craft of a shorter form. Many of the great authors in the past have published short story collections. I grew up reading early sci-fi, so it was natural to use that as a starting point for my writing.
