I’m not what people would define as a “fly by the seat of your pants” type of person. Nor, am I the “rigid and orderly” type either?
In creative writing, I follow a process. Most writers have a process, whether it’s doing fifty jumping jacks between each chapter, standing up while typing, writing only in coffee houses, listening to music, or writing by a body of water. Not to mention, the time of day a writer will write. Some claim the 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. timeframe works best, while others prefer the midnight hour.
I used to write in the middle of the night until…well, I had children. These days, I need every single minute of my sleep. I’ve trained myself to write when the kids are in school, whether it’s inspiration-induced, or a must finish content dump.
The author’s description of the writing process is an excellent one! I am still looking through her books and deciding on my next read. Thanks for sharing!
