More information about KDP Print 😎
I’m sure most of you have heard the news by now, but if you haven’t, Amazon has announced some major changes to its KDP Print program. Only two days after I was telling people in this blog’s comments that I wouldn’t even consider moving to KDP Print from CreateSpace until Amazon addressed its two most glaring issues, the company announced it had. On top of that, it addressed my major problem with CreateSpace, thus making it a whole lot more likely that I will soon be moving over.
Problem #1: No Physical Proofs (Solved)
The first problem with KDP Print concerned its means of proofing your manuscript. Well, you can now order printed proofs from KDP. Proofs allow you to review a physical copy of your draft paperback prior to publication.
Note, however, that the process is a bit more cumbersome than the one CreateSpace uses. Specifically, here’s how you…

Thank you Chris! I have used the formatting for my print version and the Kindle as well. The Kindle is great and the formatting for Print version is a little tricky, takes a little practice, but I did pretty well. I worked perfectly in the end.

Hi KD,
Couldn’t you just upload to KDP Print a PDF copy, like we did with CreateSpace?
Many thanks for spreading the news, Chris 🙂

Hi NIckolas, if you know how to format a book, then do a PDF, absolutely, and with a book cover. I just used their formatting and then did a PDF and had a book cover made, then uploaded all it all to KDP. It was fun and I am glad I know how to do formatting now. Karen 🙂

Ah, I see! How did their automatic system turn out? Have you ordered a copy of your book?

Oh yes, I have ordered a number of them and they are all perfect! Just like if I had used Createspace, except I would have spent $250.00 or more for the Formatting to have it done correctly and $150. 00 for the Cover. I did spend $150.00 for the cover, which is beautiful. I can use the money I saved for marketing! So, for me – it is a win – win. Your should try it – maybe – the formatting can be tricky. I had to use the widows and orphans app on my Windows 10 frequently.
