Kero was a West Highland White Terrier who gave me a little over a decade of loyal devotion. So, it was only fitting that I immortalized him in his own series of books, combining my love of writing with my love for my beloved dog.

He was still with me when the first six books in the series were written. At the time, I only intended it to be a six book series. Then he had to make that journey across the rainbow bridge, where all pets go to await the day when they’ll be reunited with the humans they loved so much in life.

I’ve lost several pets over the years. Not surprising, considering I’ve had a variety of them since childhood. But losing Kero was the hardest. He was a very special dog to me. It was only fitting, therefore, that I said my goodbyes to him in a very special way. That’s how the seventh and final book in the “Kero’s World” series came to be. It’s my special, “Goodbye,” for my special dog.

I talked to him about his books when he was still around. He probably didn’t understand the concept of having books about him, but he managed to grasp that it was something exciting, and would wag his tail and bark excitedly whenever they were mentioned. He would have loved to have his books in audio, and to hear his name repeated by a narrator as they told his stories. He’s not here to hear them, but I’m sure he’d be pleased to know others can now do so, and I’m also sure he’d be pleased with the job narrator Giles Miller did in bringing his stories to life. I know I am!

Author bio:

Victoria Zigler is a blind poet and children’s author who was born and raised in the Black Mountains of Wales, UK, and is now living on the South-East coast of England, UK.

Victoria – or Tori, if you prefer – has been writing since she knew how, has a very vivid imagination, and spends a lot of time in fictional worlds; some created by her, others created by other authors.

When she remembers to spend some time in the real world, it’s mostly to spend time with her hubby and pets, though sometimes to indulge in other interests that capture her attention from time to time, such as doing crafts, listening to music, watching movies, playing the odd figure game or roleplaying game, and doing a little cooking and baking.
