Publishing your ebook directly to the Kindle store can save you money in the long-term because you won’t sacrifice a your royalties to intermediaries.
We’ve created a 10-step Kindle self publishing guide to how to publish an ebook on Amazon.
Use this guide to publish on Kindle yourself, and keep all the profits you deserve.
My first book (One Month, 20 Days, and a Wake UP) I used KDP Select. I even used their click marketing program. At the end of the 90 days, my readers were friends and friends of friends. I decided to not renew and put the book on Nook, LuLu, Kobo, and iTunes Connect. When I started getting followers here on WordPress, the sales began to increase. To date, I have sold 4 books on Nook and nothing on LuLu and Kobo. Everything else (approx. 100) has been on Kindle Direct. To get to my question, it seems that KDP Select has the advantage over the others. Is there a reason you should not go exclusively with KDP Select?

That’s a question every author asks at some time, Chuck – I don’t think there’s definitive answer – Some prefer to stay only with KDP, some prefer to go elsewhere.
