We might resemble that, a little. We do actually discuss the selected book….for about fifteen minutes, then all bets are off. Most of us even read the books!

Actually, no. 🙂 I just finally joined one, and while there is wine involved (and often very tasty desserts), we discuss the books. So, I guess I’m lucky. First book club I’ve ever been a member of, and it’s a good one.

That seems to be the prevalent attitude, I’m afraid, at most book clubs. The whole traditional literary community tends to be a “good old boys” club, with not much attention paid to those who weren’t members of Professor “So & So’s” creative writing class. Passive aggression is substituted for the passive voice, which is viewed with utter disdain by those who “know better.” Thank God for Indie publishing platforms like Kindle for giving talented but unknown writers a true voice. Say what you will, but in my book (pun intended) it’s “All Hail the Zon.” 🙂
