So, friends… I have conflicts about sharing spooky stories and content on my blog. It’s supposed to be a blog that’s useful for writers, and plenty of us (including me!) write about ghosts, villains who use bad magic, and so on. On the other hand, it’s also supposed to be a positive blog about being happy and reaching your potential.

Last week I had a post all teed up about Icelandic stave magic, inspired by my recent trip to Iceland. I love learning about folklore and superstitions, and I thought it might be especially interesting to fantasy writers. Well, a lot of the magical tradition is not negative, but I came across some truly horrible things in my research. I wasn’t sure it belonged on my blog, and I finally scrapped the post altogether.

When I mentioned this on my Facebook author page and on Twitter, a few people said they would’ve liked to read it! So that made me think that sharing this list is probably okay.

If you are easily scared and have an over-active imagination, just skip this one, though. If you do get a little creeped out by it, just remember it’s all nonsense that I made up while I was exercising on the treadmill or sitting in bed.
