Thank you, Alyssa for a very timely post. I am writing a fiction novel that takes place in the 17th century when Early Modern English was in use in Colonial America, plus a variety of cultural ways of speaking and their unique colloquialisms. I spent a great deal of time on research and reading works written in the 17th century. I have learned a great deal, but I doubt I will ever attempt such a difficult project again.
