Stay Alert and Be Aware folks 😱
How to Protect Yourself. Part 1.
2016 got off to a rocky start. Seven days into January, and I had already fallen victim to a phone scam. Dagnabit!
However, unfortunately, I am not alone.
In the research I’ve done since this “identity theft” happened, I have been truly appalled to find out more about this “growth industry.” 1 in 6 New Zealanders got a call from scammers in the last six months.
My sister, who works as a lawyer in the U.K. tells me the scammers could ruin my credit rating, scam more people through me, and that they will sell my personal details to those dastardly people (my words, not hers!) who compile “sucker lists.” Happy New Year to me!
I’m not an idiot. So, how did this happen? I know, like every other adult who owns a computer or a phone line these days, that you never give…

And the thing is, the scammers do have your details. It happen to me with power supply. they called around 7 pm, it’s always late, to tell me, that I have to go with them, because the power supply we are with, stop giving us the power. they knew everything about me, only not my bank account. Good. We could stop it. Once they said, our Internet will be cut when we not doing that. Oh, I know them now. I yell into the phone, I am not listening to you, you are a scammer and put the phone down. 😀

Thanks for the re-blog, Chris! This is awesome. My nephew said he gets a few phone-calls from scammers a year, and he ‘thought everybody ‘knew the signs to watch for,’ but this is the problem, unless you’ve been a victim or have some reason to have researched the topic, most people do not know the signs. The power is in the sharing! I’m really hopeful we can alert more people about what to watch out for, so thank you again. 🙂

Welcome Yvette, I agree, it can happen to anyone, so reminders like this will hopefully empower others to at least think twice (or more) before giving away their details to scammers…
