It’s not crazy. It shows its history. It is a world language because it is a world of languages. There is a reason for all the strangenesses people complain about. I just heard a song the other day called alcoholiday. How long can you kick this neologism around, with all its meaning and nuances? I love bemusing English students with the fact that a door can be ajar but a jar can never be ajar!
