I am German and still read books written in English. A lot of my books are in English. I prefer the analogue book version, though for various reasons. First – I would not know if I should get a kindle or a tolino-reader (german bookshops have united to have an e-book format that is not amazon) – and besides, I only travel several minutes to work – so I mainly read at home – and there I have all my unread books (0ver 150) from which to choose. I stare at screens long enough anyway each day, I love to share my books with family and friends, like to use my beautiful bookmarks on a real book. But I can see advantages, too, in digitalized books – just not for me.

Do you know what format the German eBooks use Fran – epub, mobi, pdf or something else?

Since I do not have an e-book-reader I did not even know what the formats were called or that there were more than two *blushes*

HI Fran, you are German? Have ich nicht gewusst. I am German but live for over 40 years outside, first in New Zealand, now in Australia. and I am writing my books in English. I think I have lost a lot of my German, since writing and reading are all in English. Have a great day š

‘The’ Kindle is far from the most popular device, but there are free Kindle reading apps for pretty much every device and platform, to be fair.

Thanks for the link. It’s interesting to be reminded that there other perspectives outside of the U.S. Personally, I read Kindle on my laptop, as well as iBooks. It would seem a waste of money to buy a “dedicated reader” that had no other function. (Biggest impediment to ebook reading: can’t read them in the bathtub!) š
