Ever since I started writing seriously back in 1995, I’ve spent a lot of money buying the newest edition of Microsoft Office. Earlier this year I bought myself the latest version of MS Office. Big mistake! After spending around £70 it downloaded with relative ease. The trouble was that when it came to livening it up, Microsoft had linked the whole process to their website, requiring me to open a specific Microsoft account for the purpose. Even after I’d fully complied, the damned thing still refused to register and start. As far as I was concerned that was the last straw! I finally decided enough is enough and removed all traces of all versions of MS Office from my laptop. Goodbye MS Word, been nice knowing you – not.

Well, I like Word. I’ve never used any other word processing program, but I never buy newer versions of Word. I have 2007 and I’ll change it only when I get a new computer. They can’t transfer older programs, so I’ll have to change versions at that time, and I know I won’t like it as well, but I’ll be stuck with it. I can never see any point in making a lot of work for yourself when what you already have works fine.

I prefer to use Libre Office which is MS Word compatible and free (works on Macs & Microsoft OS – I also have Pages that comes with the Mac, but not used it much Lorinda.

It’s good to have Word compatible programs, because both Smashwords and Kindle work easily with Word and not so much with other programs, at least in my experience.

I’ve never used Scrivener before, but it’s something I want to get someday.

Yes, I think my sister has it. Or she has the one similar to it. I can’t remember what it’s called at the moment, though.
