World-as-100-People_infographic

London-based designer Jack Hagley has created an infographic based on the simple premise of: what the world would like if it were represented by 100 people. The statistics cover a broad range, including: gender, age, race and religion. You can find the original source of the data used here.

Hagley specializes in infographics. To see more be sure to check out his website for more interestingness. Prints of the above infographic are also available here.

  1. Wow, this was really interesting, thanks. I found it interesting that literacy rates are so high while college degrees are so low. Also encouraging that the hunger numbers are so low.

      • Well I guess it does make sense considering how many people around the world are in poverty or are simply forbidden from having an education. Hard to wrap your head around when you come from a place where it’s seen as a given and you’re practically tripping over people with Bachelor degrees.

          • Both Charles – but I DO get your point – what I meant was – Get out of the tiny little local spot we’re used to and see more of what goes on around us.
That’s why I post non-book or author related posts as well – to demonstrate the diversity of the world and (hopefully) increase the perceptions of anyone who may not otherwise be able to (or think to) explore 😀

          • But . . . but . . . the Internet has all I need. Even the right amount of crime to keep me paranoid about human contact. 😛

I do enjoy some of the worldly posts. It’s funny how diverse people are and most never realize the scale.
