Hello, my name is Anthony Renfro, and you don’t know me. Maybe you have seen my biggest hit on Amazon – “A Zombie Christmas.” A story about three guys trying to save Christmas for the kids in their neighborhood. All the while fighting Zombies to do it. Nope, okay. I just wanted to throw that tidbit out before moving on to the Q&A, where I interview myself.
Why did you write the books you’ve written?
I write them for a very simple answer, I love to write, and I love to explore the darkness of the world around us, the supernatural, things that go bump in the night. I like to pull back the light and expose its ugly underbelly. I love writing in the world of horror, because it allows me so much creative freedom. You can let your imagination go wild inside this genre. Nothing is off limits.
Why do a lot of your stories revolve around the holidays, Christmas especially?
I love to take horror elements, zombies, ghosts, vampires, things like that and push them into a world full of cheer. You have all this goodness around you at the holidays, and into it comes these monsters of your nightmares. I love seeing those worlds collide.
Why did you self-publish?
Agents either don’t get me or just don’t care about me. My stories don’t fit into a neat little box. I think that is why I haven’t been traditionally published, and why self-publishing works for me. As an independent I can do about anything I want and my stories don’t have to check off the boxes in a particular category. Everything you see inside my EBooks or Paperbacks I have labored over myself to make them right. I’ve studied fonts, formatting, you name it, in order to get my stories out.
Any other interests or things about you?
I’m a runner. I’m a stay-at-home dad with a 2 year old son. I love music, heavy metal mostly, but Jimmy Buffett is my go to guy. I love to read. I love to write poetry. I’m married to a very understanding wife and our family also includes two cats. Not much of a dog person.
How many books have you published?
I’ve published a couple of novels and multiple short stories.
One of those novels is currently out of print, and being revised. I hope to have it ready to republish soon. The current and only published novel is called “Ghostly Visitations and Southern Destinations.” A story about a day to day guy who winds up with a treasure map, and decides to drop it all in order to go find his fortune. I wrote this one right after I got laid off from work. I was in the mood myself to see the tropics, but lack of funds prevented that. I instead lived through my character Parson Slang. He could do what I couldn’t.
Regarding my Short Stories and Short Story collections. I will highlight a few of them, but not all:
A Zombie Christmas – best seller with ten positive reviews. It is a simple short story about the joy of Christmas, and keeping hope alive when all seems to be lost.
A Zombie Holiday Trilogy – this collection includes, A Zombie Thanksgiving, A Zombie Christmas, and A Zombie New Year.
The Living Sand – Two boys who discover a hidden beach and the evil secrets it holds.
The Imp – 5 students set out on Halloween to discover the secrets of the town’s most infamous haunted house.
The Tale of the Golden Pirate -An Action-Adventure tale about pirates, ghosts, buried treasure, doomed love affairs, double crosses, drug deals, and creatures made of slime.

Thanks again Chris. Looks great. I also want your audience to know that Ghostly Visitations is now called The Tale of the Golden Pirate in case they are looking for it. I wanted to make that clear.
Again, thanks for all the help, not only for me, but all authors struggling to make a name for themselves.
