Allow me to introduce myself. I am Michael Phelps . . . NO, sorry I am not the young, good-looking, talented Olympic Champion with all that Gold and beautiful ladies following him around the globe. I am the (NOT so) young, (NOT) good-looking, (NOT) an Olympic Champion, (Already spent all my Gold), I’m happily divorced (I did not deserve her) and NO beautiful ladies chasing me anywhere. I am the (somewhat talented) AUTHOR. I’ve lived a long and sometimes complicated life. I’ve travelled a lot of highways and some byways too. I’ve been up and down, over and out, but I can say one thing . . . regrets, I have a few, but then again too few to mention . . . and as I enter the winter season of my life, I can say I DID IT MY WAY,
I am a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force (Military Police Combat Defense Forces) during the Viet Nam War. I’ve served in law enforcement, a stint as an Executive Recruiter, Administrative Assistant and Individual Co-Trustee for a Hungarian Nobleman, Count Tassilo Szechenyi. I was engaged as Chief Investigator and Paralegal for a prominent Miami (FL) Law firm specializing in criminal defense.
While working at the law firm I had a chance encounter with an old friend, Ellie Janssen. I eventually became co-author with Ellie on her Memoir, “DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE”. The book was published in December of 1994 in Hardcover. Paperback editions followed in 1995, 1996 and 1997, with combined world-wide sales in excess of 1.2 million copies. For those of you born after 1980, DAVID JANSSEN was one of Hollywood’s hardest working and most beloved actors. He was propelled to world-wide fame for his stellar performances as “Dr. Richard Kimble” in the Q-M Productions of “THE FUGITIVE” which aired on ABC Television Network. “THE FUGITIVE” is still being aired in syndication around the world. Mr. Janssen also starred in three other television series (“RICHARD DIAMOND-Private Detective”, “O’HARA, U. S. Treasury” and “HARRY O”). In addition, he starred or co-starred in fifty feature films and 30 Made-for-Television films.
Based on the success of “DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE” and upon early retirement from the law firm, I chose to embark on the challenging career of being an Author. I promised myself though; I would never co-author a book again, especially with the ex-wife of a mega Film and Television star.
I chose to write about subjects I know well; Police procedurals, Detective and Court Room novels based on actual cases. My debut novel, “THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE” is based on the brutal murder of a close friend and one-time mentor of mine, Detective Sergeant Jack R. Ohrberg, Robbery & Homicide Unit of the Indianapolis Police Department. In this novel, I inserted myself in the role of his rookie partner and created the “Mike Walsh Detective Novels” series. In this novel, I made every attempt to provide my readers with an in-depth look at the personal as well as professional lives of the men and women who serve and protect their communities, all too often, paying the ultimate price. Jack was murdered on December 11, 1980. David Janssen had passed away from a massive heart attack on February 13, 1980. That was a very bad year for me; I lost two very good friends.
The release of “THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE” revived interest in Ellie’s Memoir. Since I own the copyrights, I released the Fourth Edition of “DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE” in hardcover and at the original publication price.
In the “Mike Walsh Detective Novels” series, I released the second novel, “THE JOCKEY’S JUSTICE”. The novel is based on the murder of a highly respected horse racing Jockey on the last day of the racing season at a race course in western Kentucky. Eight years after the murder, his widow and son-in-law were arrested and charged with the crime. The law firm I worked for represented them. My assistant and I were dispatched to Kentucky to investigate the case and uncover evidence to prove our client’s innocence. I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. My paternal Grandfather and an Uncle had been Circuit Court Judges in Kentucky and my uncle had been a Law Professor at Case=Western University. I felt that would be to our advantage. “THE JOCKEY’S JUSTICE” takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride into the sleazy underbelly of the colorful, fast and often corrupt world of horse racing.
“DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE” was originally published by Lifetime Books, Inc. in Hardcover and by Frederick Fell Publishers for the Soft cover editions. The Fourth Edition was published in July of 2010 by Blue Line Publishing House, Inc.
“THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE” was published in Hardcover and E-book by Blue Line Publishing House, Inc. and “THE JOCKEY’S JUSTICE” in E-book format by Blue Line Publishing House. A Soft cover edition will be released soon.
“DAVID JANSSEN~Our Conversations – VOLUME ONE-The Early Years, 1965-1972 and VOLUME TWO-The Final Years, 1973-1980 is published by Blue Line Publishing House, Inc. in E-book format and Soft cover. A Hardcover edition is available by Special Order. I am a principal in Blue Line Publishing House, Inc.
“INSANE JUSTICE” is the third in the “Mike Walsh Detective Novels” series. This novel is based on a double-homicide case I worked on for the law firm. The case involved a Cuban immigrant, homosexual relationship. Male prostitution, drugs and entangled some prominent members of the community. My assistant and I worked this case for over two years. My recommendation to my boss was to utilize the difficult defense of the “McNaughton Rule” of Insanity. The State of Florida was seeking the death penalty. The first trial ended with a Hung Jury! There was a second trial, and the verdict shocked the entire community.
My passion is READING other Author’s works and in the past eight years I have learned to appreciate all genres, including poetry. I love animals and am partial to German Shepherds (as a former military police K-9 Handler). I enjoy travel, but now limit myself to travel by car, as I love to drive. Other interests are American history, Museums and fine dining. Having lived in Manhattan for over fifteen years prior to relocating to Miami Shores, Florida, New York City is my favorite city in the world. London and Rome, my favorites in Europe.
Having spent the past four and one half years on the journey with my friend David Janssen, I have not established a BLOG. As a matter of fact, I just found out the meaning of a “BLOG”. I do follow several and find them most interesting written by many gifted and talented writers from all walks of life.

David Janssen was one of my favorite actors, and if I am showing my age, so be it. I’m delighted you’ve given him a lasting voice. My favorite European city is Prague, where I lived for a while.

Hello bjsscribbles,
Okay, so you must be at least 20 years young than me and 32 years younger than David . . . play the numbers on the Lottery and Good Luck. Thank you, I appreciate your remembering my friend David Janssen. Have a great Weekend.
