Meet Guest Author M T McGuire

Hello there, I’m M T McGuire and I’m an authorholic.

Well, you asked...

It’s a marrow. The woman is M T McGuire.

I’d like to say a big thank you to Chris for letting me hijack his lovely blog to tell you about my books. I’ll try to make it interesting. Here goes. Three things you (hopefully) didn’t know about the K’Barthan Trilogy.

Thing 1: the K’Barthan Trilogy is eco-friendly. It is printed on paper from sustainable forests, which will not harm sceptic tanks, so it is more than just a great read. It will serve a multitude of other household purposes when you’ve finished. It is not a macerator lacerator, it’s absorbent and-

Hang on. That’s not right is it?

Anyway, it’s all very well finding alternative uses for the print edition – it might be absorbent for… you know… or alternatively, it might light your bar-b-queue well – but the first part is actually free as an ebook. Everywhere. So to be honest, it’s probably best I just give you a quick summary and a link to that.

James Bond Cars… with ordnance! Back cover of One Man: No Plan by M T McGuire

The K’Barthan Trilogy is a genre mash up aimed at anyone over 12 who is interested. It’s a chivalric sci-fi, fantasy adventure set in a modern, parallel universe; K’Barth. On the K’Barthan version of Earth there are more than one sentient, opposable-thumbed, technologically advanced species.

A sci-fi, fantasy adventure with a dash of romance in books 2 and 4 (but no squelchy bits, I promise) the K’Barthan Trilogy has been called “Douglas Adams meets James Bond” and I suppose it sort of is, but without the spying. There are bond cars in it, with ordnance, which fly but they’re called snurds. And there is a vile baddie. He doesn’t have a white cat though. If he did, to be honest, he’d probably eat it or something and I couldn’t have that on my conscience.

The Trilogy also contains a surprise item: a fourth book. Maths has never been my strong point. Neither are deadlines or writing to a plan. Especially when the characters seemed to have far more idea what was happening than I. So I just watched them get on with it and wrote down what they did. The result goes something like this:

The K’Barthan Trilogy

All The Pan of Hamgee wants is a quiet life.

So why did he have to fall in love with a woman living a different version of reality, upset a murderous tyrant and then run out of places to hide?

Now all he has to do is face his inner demons, rescue everything he holds dear and save the world, or die trying.

Oh yes, and he’s an abject coward.

Great. No pressure then.

The first book, Few Are Chosen, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 1 is Free in e-book format. Everywhere. FACCover 300dpiFront
