My name is Rebekkah Ford, I’m an author of a YA paranormal/fantasy trilogy called, Beyond the Eyes. Presently, I’m writing a companion to the trilogy called, Tangled Roots.
I grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal. When my parents were married, they were the directors of the UFO Investigator’s League.
They not only investigated extraterrestrial cases, they also took on paranormal activity ones as well.
I think because I grew up around that stuff, is why I’m fascinated by the unknown and love writing about it.
I write fiction books because it makes me happy and entertains me. I also think it’s awesome that I can create a story, transfer what runs through my imagination onto paper, and then share it with everyone. The world, characters and tale I had created, jumps to life in the reader’s mind.
How cool is that?
Pretty frickin’ cool if you ask me.
I was going to take the traditional route after I wrote the first book in this trilogy (Beyond the Eyes). I even had an agent interested in taking me on as a client. However, I decided to take the self-publishing road instead.
Why?
Because of a lot of reasons. To name a few, I lacked self-confidence and wanted to see if I could do it all on my own, I would be able to have full creative control over everything, and my books would never go out of print.
Self-publishing is hard, hard, work. I’m not going to B.S. you. You have to be dedicated and driven to make it happen and be successful. I have a full time job, which makes all the tasks that are required to make it as an author, even more difficult to keep up with. There is not enough time in the day.
I don’t regret taking this path though. I’ve learned so much, met awesome people, and I’ve gained the self-confidence I was lacking my whole entire life.
It’s worth the frustration, the stress zits on my face and the tears. If I could go back two years and do it all over again, I’d do the same thing.
What interests me besides writing stories?
A lot of things do. I’m akaleidoscope filled with colorful interests. I love reading, watching, and talking about the paranormal world. I also love history, antique stores, reading, movies, animals, the woods, yummy food, coffee, taking walks, philosophy . . . I can go on and on. LOL
Rebekkah is also a freelance writer for hire, an entrepreneur and digital nomad in the making. She believes we weren’t born to just pay bills and die.
She plans to travel the United States in her RV full-time with her husband and cat (Church) as well as filming a documentary on it.
