The concept of several authors banding together on one website sounds reasonable. However, I also wonder who would do the vetting to keep the quality at the proper standard. I personally wouldn’t want to take that on – too time consuming and too stressful! I wouldn’t enjoy having to tell an author his/her book doesn’t make the cut!

Vetted site for quality books? Brilliant idea, but I wonder how the vetting/editing will be funded. The biggest problem self-publishing authors have is access to good editors without paying an arm-and-a-leg.

The only way an editor can become good, is with practice.
While not personally an author, I am typing up and wrestling/publishing Dad’s works.
Depending on length, I can read over other people’s works, and annotate or use funky MS word gizmos to help others see changes I made as suggestions.
At the end of the day though, as has been said on Blogs all around, it is ultimately YOUR book, and any input from proof-readers/editors is all purely opinionated and subjective.

As this blog’s resident professional editor, Susan Uttendorfsky stated, even editors need editors sometimes 😀

Who edits the editors’ editors’ edits? Ahem, now not sure of my apostrophes! Any editors available?
