Vardan Partamyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1983.
After returning from studies in the US, he enrolled in the Yerevan State University – majoring in Political Science and English language.
In the years that followed, he was an author of and contributor to a number of non-fiction publications mainly dealing with the issues and challenges facing his newly independent country.
Currently coordinating the various development projects of a large humanitarian foundation, he is trying to bring his input in pushing Armenia forward and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all people.
Writing fiction has been a long time passion/obsession for Vardan who mixes influences from writers such as Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, Harry Harrison, Alfred Bester, Ernest Hemingway and Ian Fleming with the eternal themes of a man’s strive for freedom, the quest for self discovery and the knowledge of the unknown, presented on the backdrop of sometimes fantastical surroundings and events.
During my research about Vardan, I contacted him about various details and he kindly sent the following:
“Hi Chris.
I do feel that both of my works can be subject to discussion and consideration and would really love to engage more people in the overall process.
For me personally, this is really not about making money but instead about, in the case of The After/Life, supporting a charity and for both novels – about paving the way for other Armenian authors who want to write and create and tell their own unique stories but have no precedent in terms of whether it is possible for them to get recognized and read beyond the borders of our small country where English is a distant third language and where the genre of science fiction does not have an established status with most of the writers specializing in historical dramas (based on the facts of the long and utterly drama filled history of Armenia).
In this sense, the support of people like you means a lot to me and I do believe that in the modern world boundaries really do not matter when dealing with literature.”
Vardan’s books include:
The After/Life
The After Life is the story of Nad Raven – a young man, whose childhood is shattered by a cataclysmic event that leaves him trapped in an underground vault with a few other survivors of a modern day apocalypse. I
t is a tale of a small community that tries to move on after all hope seems to have been wiped out by an all out nuclear war.
With our planet turned into a grim wasteland, the protagonist discovers that even in an isolated micro society there is love and hate, grief and happiness, valor and treason as well as that overpowering human temptation to find out what is out there – beyond the safe walls of the underground shelter.
To find out, Nad embarks on a dangerous journey that holds many dark secrets… a journey that will change his life forever…
***All the proceeds from the sale of the novel are being donated to a special care children orphanage in Gyumri town of Armenia***

I, the Provocateur
I, myself
I, the Provocateur
I, the Warrior
I, the Mocker
I respect nothing…
Come forth spirits
From the sunset
From the sunrise
From the depths of hell
From anywhere you dwell
I call thee – come forth
Come forth – cross my path
And my blade shall taste thy blood…
Who is the Provocateur?… The answer awaits…
