Message from Gigi Sedlmayer regarding her Goodreads account…

Goodreads has become a Dead End for Me!

My main email has been corrupted and is no longer accessible, so I have been updating all my internet accounts to my other email.

When I tried to update my Goodreads email, they persist in sending a confirmation code to my old email, which is no longer accessible.

All my many other login accounts have the logical option of sending a code to my other email, or my phone number (SMS), or my Authenticator app, all of which are also secure.

But not Goodreads!

They “can only send to my original email”, which is corrupt and inaccessible.

After corresponding with Goodreads administration I was patronisingly advised to “… just start another Goodreads account”, which implies losing everything I have posted there, which is unacceptable to me.

So I have no choice other than to just keep using this Goodreads account, even though any email messages sent to me can’t be received.

This is not a Goodreads “Security Feature,” but just lazy or cheap programming by their IT people – which is definitely a security hazard. There are better solutions, as all my other internet accounts have proven.

Beware that you don’t fall into the same dead-end trap if your email should become corrupt or dysfunctional.

This 6 book bundle will expose your kids to an incredible ride filled with love, joy, fear and peace. It’s a wild adventure story.

  1. I’m so sorry this has happened! Amazon owns Goodreads, so you could try sending their CS a message and see if they will intervene. Frankly, Goodreads is corrupt, welcomes trolls, and is not at all friendly towards authors. Your time may end up being better spent elsewhere, even though it wasn’t your choice.

  2. Every online service should have the means and policies in place to deal with the unfortunate things that happen – every day – to users and customers. To hide behind “Security” when something like this happens is inexcusable.
