Historical Writing: Get Your Facts Straight

Hey, SE Readers. Joan with you today. A couple of years ago, I wrote a post about historical fiction and the importance of doing your research. Today, I’d like to take it a step further.

I used to think of historical fiction as set during the 1800s. Depending on who you ask, historical fiction can be anything that dates earlier than the mid-twentieth century to as late as twenty-five years ago. Whatever definition to accept, when writing historical fiction (or any fiction that blends real-life events, it’s important to get your facts straight.
