  1. I tell people that I self-published because I didn’t want to be 102 years old by the time a publishing company said, “yes.” When you’re 20, you can wait 20 – 40 years before you’re published.

I have a few differences in opinion from the author, though. And, as you know, long before Maxine came onto the scene I’ve told people that everyone is entitled to my opinion. 🙂

    1. When you’re older, you know your limitations and your gifts. I freely credit people like Amanda, Chris, Tom, Sally, and other kind hearts who have helped me through the quagmire of social media. No, “computer” isn’t my first language, but I do speak it well enough to be understood (most of the time).

    2. Explaining is not the same as complaining. Congrats to the man who took another grammar course and survived to tell about it. I worked for a small business that successfully taught business writing and business grammar to large companies and my boss was well aware that I was blessed with dyslexia. We found ways to work around it, and I learned a lot from her, but that will never include how to use an apostrophe or how to read editorial squiggles. That’s why I pay my editor more money.

    3. On one hand we’re supposed to be proud of our age. On the other hand we’re not supposed to bring it up. Mentally, I feel better in my 6th decade of life than ever before and attribute it to my love of writing. NEWS FLASH: It’s not the writing that’s hard, it’s the editing, publishing and marketing that sucks.

    • Great points and views Joelle – every author should write the way that suits them best, grammar and spelling errors included.
Once the tsunami of words – or story – has abated, then the amendments can begin using a variety (and combination) of methods from self editing, beta readers, editors, et al. 👍😃
