I’m with Tina. Lots of books! Reading really cuts into my TV time.

Thankfully TV is not obligatory. I hardly switch it on, these days.

Same here Fran – the programmes are not as interesting or entertaining as they used to be (at least, to me) 😀

Well, maybe your taste got refined. Or you get bored with all that repetition. I know the children’s programmes I grew up with, intelligently made, teaching sometimes, at other times telling stories, not just an endless series of teenager rom-coms or, for even smaller children, repetetive drivel (like in Dora, the explorer, or even worse in Teletubbies. THOSE were awful.) And – it was limited in time, here in Germany, we did not have 24/7 TV before the late 80ies. We started 24/7 TV in September 1990, at the weekends, first … The last station followed in 1994. And since then, since they needed more and therefore cheaper material to broadcast, they show the drivel.

I remember German TV in the early 1980’s and mid 1990’s when I lived and worked there Fran – I agree 😀

Then you know exactly what I am talking about, when you remember the early 1980ies and compare it to the rubbish we had in the 1990ies – and I can assure you, it has not gotten any better since then. If I watch TV it is mostly Sportschau (from August on, when Bundesliga starts again), sometimes something on phoenix – when something catches my interest – and news, now and then, especially when something dramatic happened.

I keep lots of books scattered about just in case I get the urge to clean.

If I could just get those books to do the cleaning, I would have a lot more time for reading.

Anything to keep away from that cleaning! “Ooh, look. The sun is out.” or “Ooh, look. There’s a beer in the fridge.”
