TWOO may not be for you
I recently received an email from an Organisation called TWOO, claiming that one of my author friends had invited me to join.
Since I like to keep in touch with all the authors I know, I went through the process and joined without first checking it out.
BIG MISTAKE!!!!!
Be aware that it is NOT an authors hangout, or another Facebook / Twitter / Google+ / etc, alternative!
During the sign in process, it raided my email contacts and has already sent “Invitations” from “ME” to my contacts.
If you have received such an invite, please CHECK FIRST if you REALLY want to join it – I cannot find any way to leave it or cancel anything it has done.
DO NOT JOIN or ACCEPT the invite unless you REALLY want to MEET NEW PEOPLE!!!!!
Twoo illegally without my consent or permission use my personal and business data and trademarked name to create my “dating” profile, without my knowledge or approval. I made copies of all the abuse and sent to my lawyer for processing.

Hi Chris. I’m catching up after a break so only just read this. Many thanks for the warning, although I have to admit I’ve never heard of TWOO! These scams are such a pain in the neck. I hope you had a good Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you 🙂

We would like to inform you that we respect your privacy and we will never do anything without your consent. During the registration process and later we offer you the possibility to import your contacts from other platforms, to make inviting your friends easier. Then you can choose whether you want to actually invite them or not. Everyone who received an invitation, may at any time unsubscribe from receiving Twoo e-mails by clicking the link at the bottom of the message and thereby blocking their e-mail address on our mailing list.
If you’re sure you want to delete your account, please go to Settings and choose Edit in the Account section. Then click Delete account. If you encounter any problems, feel free to contact us via Helpdesk: http://www.twoo.com/faq/?view=helpdesk

Thank you for commenting Team Twoo – may I suggest that you also include a brief synopsis of what your site is about in the Registration Process 🙂

I got caught as well Chris. In my case I received an invite from a fellow writer. I should have checked it out, but I didn’t. If you figure out how to get out of it, email me the instructions please. :p

Be assured, if I find out how to escape its clutches, there will be a post sent out Jack 🙂

Thank you for the warning, Chris! 🙂
I guess it works like some Facebook applications. When one presses the “agree” button, they got the permission to “raid” one’s contact list and post things on one’s behalf, even on one’s friend’s page!

Even Goodreads signs me in using my FB details Hari and TWOO had the options to use FB or Twitter to sign up, but I chose to use my blog Gmail account which is what it raided.
Glad you weren’t caught in it’s net 🙂

Thanks for the Spam warning.
Re giving in card details I did so once and was informed no money would be taken from my account until I signed a contract. However, the company took money without my signing a contract with it taking over 3 months to get my money back.
