BE(A)WARE of TWOO

BE AWARE

TWOO may not be for you

I recently received an email from an Organisation called TWOO, claiming that one of my author friends had invited me to join.

Since I like to keep in touch with all the authors I know, I went through the process and joined without first checking it out.

BIG MISTAKE!!!!!

Be aware that it is NOT an authors hangout, or another Facebook / Twitter / Google+ / etc, alternative!

During the sign in process, it raided my email contacts and has already sent “Invitations” from “ME” to my contacts.

If you have received such an invite, please CHECK FIRST if you REALLY want to join it – I cannot find any way to leave it or cancel anything it has done.

DO NOT JOIN or ACCEPT the invite unless you REALLY want to MEET NEW PEOPLE!!!!!

  1. Thanks for the warning! I haven’t gotten caught! You didn’t send ME any TWOO email – should I be disappointed? LOL

  2. There is so much of this around now. I keep getting emails from “companies” claiming that I signed in with them. Usually they are something to do with authors and I shy away until I’m sure. The other big no-no at the moment is the ones where you have to enter your card details before you can register, with an assurance that they won’t take money out of your account. Oh yes? Call me a suspicious old bag but if you don’t want my money, why do you need my credit card details? Hmmm?

  3. Thanks for the post. I did get an email from them using your name, and reported that email as spam to gmail. Spammers and phishers are clever in how they try to trick us by pretending they are someone we DO trust.
