Florence writes stories of contemporary life in small towns or the wilderness she knows so well. Sometimes her stories cross genres and contain paranormal, sci/fi, or fantasy elements. Sometimes not. But there is always a romance and characters her readers can identify with.
Florence writes about people who are as normal as apple pie (most of them, anyway) just living their lives in small towns or the wilderness who unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of situations ranging from the heartwarming through the difficult and all the way to the kinds of situations that would make most people cringe, cry, then give up and run for safety. But Florence’s characters survive, thrive, overcome whatever obstacles large or small are thrown in front of them, and while they are at it, they find time to fall in love.
Florence was born in the city and has lived in the suburbs, small towns, the country and the wilderness, where she still lives with her husband and a cowardly cat named Smoke.
At various times in her career she’s been a confession writer, a copywriter, a ghost writer and an editor. She writes short stories, novellas and novels. Her work has been categorized as romance, science-fiction, fantasy and mainstream, to name a few genres that it fits comfortably into.
Her books include:
Charlie, forester for Macallister Outdoors corporate wilderness retreat, takes Ian Macallister, the owner and her boss, to inspect a newly purchased tract of forest with a tiny lake in the center that fascinates Ian because of the legend of a spirit that resides in the lake. Before they can determine whether the spirit is real or not, a horrific storm destroys the forest and the beaver dam that created the lake. Ian decides to stay in order to repair the dam and save a spirit he can’t be sure even exists and Charlie must stay too because he’s her boss even if she has doubts about him. After all, why would he concern himself about a possibly nonexistent spirit when his business has suffered major damage? Has his quest clouded his judgement? Then night falls and lights appear over the water.
If you like romance, if you like science fiction, if you like memorable characters, including one that’s not human, if you like eco-fiction, or if you just like a good story, give this book a whirl. You won’t be sorry, you’ll remember the singing spirit for a long time and, before you are far into the story, you’ll find yourself rooting for Charlie and Ian as they try to save the life of a spirit they aren’t even sure exists.
A woman has a dream while wide awake in which she… and she alone… can save a lost child. But dreams aren’t real, right? Or are they? The child is crying and asking her for help. She can’t ignore her. But if she goes with her gut, ignores common sense, and steps into the dream in order to save the child, what will happen? Will she be able to return to the real world once the child is safe? Or will she cease to exist? And what about the child’s good-looking father who is searching frantically for his daughter? What will happen if they meet?
The Eye of the Universe explores what happens when the world will end unless two lovers agree to part forever…. and one of them decides not to abide by those terms.
Florences latest book, (the first of a Trilogy), Wolf Legend has been sent out to several Publishers and she waits (patiently?) for their response, meanwhile, partly as a displacement activity, she is making a start in it’s follow up, Earth Legend.![]()
