I think the conventional wisdom is that said is the best and simplest attribution if needed at all. Mostly none is needed if only two characters in conversation. The more use of these extraneous words to communicate emotion or meaning can be distracting. That said (pun intended), there may be times to use them but better to use action and other tools than a multitude of replacements for said.
