From time to time, I Google my books to ascertain whether any of them have received a mention, for example in the form of a book review. Whilst searching for one of my titles yesterday (Wednesday 10th July), I came across a link to the book on Kiss Library.
All of my books (with the exception of Guide Dogs Anthology), are available from Amazon and (in the case of “My Old Clock I Wind“, and “Lost in the Labyrinth of My Mind“, also from Moyhill Publishing. I have never authorised Kiss Library to sell any of my books.
I was, obviously concerned to discover that Kiss Library is offering one of my works for sale without my permission. Firstly (as already stated) I never granted that organisation permission to sell any of my titles, and, secondly any funds from such sales will not be going into…

So true Chris! But however we have to fight against them. Especially self-publishers who also put a lot of time and money into their works are otherwise totally helpless at the mercy of these crooks. Best wishes, Michael

Many thanks for sharing my post, Chris. I am saddened (but not surprised) to read on your site that 2 authors have commented that their books are available on Kiss Library’s site. I wish them (and anyone else whose books are available there without their permission) the best of luck in getting them removed. One author has also commented on my original post that they found all but one of their books available at the Kiss site. Best wishes – Kevin

Just looked at kiss library.net, and sure enough, two of my books are there! Time to dig further into DMCA takedown efforts, but realistically, what can be done with an already illegal operation in Belarus?

Thanks. Will read deeper in your post’s links and some other online articles I already located yesterday. Options are limited with what we can really accomplish with offshore sites engaged in questionable practices, but still, it’s important to try.

I agree with you that we are limited in what we can do. It is though, as you rightly say well worth doing what we can. Of course if books are traditionally published the author can request that the publisher’s Legal Department files a DMCA Notice. However we self-published authors must rely on our own resources. I also worry about authors whose books are enrolled in KDP Select as no work so enrolled can be available elsewhere whilst so enrolled. If a site (without the authors permission) offers their book for sale (when its in KDP Select), and Amazon warns the author that they are in breech of KDP terms, the author should, I believe inform Amazon ASAP of the actual situation (namely that that their work is being offered for sale, without their permission elsewhere).

Thanks, Chris & Kevin, I found my six-book mystery series, my two memoirs, on the KissLibray.com site – it appears they sell the PDFs and E-pub files… My wife is sending a ‘cease and desist’ to them…don’t know if that will work. Thanks so much for the ‘heads up’ – there are likely many authors losing sales from this operation… Best wishes, Billy Ray
