To start your writing week off, why not try working on something outside of your comfort zone? If you’re a romance writer, how about writing a horror story? Or if you’ve never written poetry, give it a go. It’s fun and you never know – you might find a new talent!

Any perceived comfort level in writing has been silenced. The goal has been to finish the current first draft before the end of the year with no idea that there was anything else for me to write. Late last night, it hit like hurricane Florence, a fully laid out story that I can’t wait to get into. Since several books and articles I’ve read on writing suggest putting the first draft aside for a cooling off period before starting to revise, it would give me something to keep me out of trouble? It is pure fiction and not something I would imagine myself taking on but it feels so natural now that the idea has bloomed.
