Hi again, Chris. It’s so nice to get away from the writing cabin this time of year. I really appreciate you inviting me over today.
Obviously, this is a promotional tour, and my job is to talk about Craig’s newest book, The Yak Guy Project. This book is based around the Major Arcana of the Tarot. The Yak Guy himself is the fool who is about to go on a journey.
The first person the Fool meets is the Magician. Yak Guy meets the yak. He serves much the same position as the Magician, in that he’s a mentor. This was also part of the research that went into this story. The Magician is a bridge between the spirit world and our world. The yak is a bridge between our world, and the new world this story takes place in.
On top of it all, I found the yak to be really cool. He’s super smart, but most of his lessons are small things the yak guy has to learn. He tends to lead Yak Guy into positions where he can learn things himself.
That’s kind of a neat trick, because all of the decisions are Yak Guy’s to make. There is a real possibility that he could make a fatal decision, and the yak would let him. Whenever the Yak Guy screws up, the yak delivers a few small lines designed to make him grow up. There are consequences to his actions, and he comes to understand that.
Eventually, Yak Guy learns to weigh the consequences and make better decisions. He goes through a sequence of situations, based around the Tarot, that help him grow and mature.
I got along really well with the yak. He’s smart, and funny in his own way too. Besides, I’m a sucker for a big old fluffy animal. I brought you this poster today of me and the yak. Your fans can make it into wallpaper for their computers, or whatever they want.
I hope I inspired you to check out The Yak Guy Project, by C. S. Boyack. I’ll drop off all the details today too. While I’m out, is there any good shopping around here? Cow print is kind of old-school now, and I could use some new dresses and shoes for summer.
