A big thank you to Chris the Storyreading Ape for helping to promote the first book of my newest series, War of Nytefall: Loyalty. While this takes place in my previous series, Legends of Windemere, it focuses on a world-changing event. Specifically, the emergence of a new breed of vampire called ‘Dawn Fangs’. Retaining their strength in the sun, possessing a heartbeat, and controlling unique powers, their presence sets off a vampire civil war that spans decades. One of the reasons for the conflict is that the Dawn Fangs are oddly mortal in how they act, which brings up the question of hobbies. Okay, not the smoothest transition, but one does have to wonder what these vampires do when they’re not fighting or hunting. So, let’s ask the question to the cast of War of Nytefall: Loyalty:
Clyde– Does this work if the audience doesn’t know us?
Xavier Tempest– Considering each of us has our own answers, I don’t think it can be easily covered in paragraphs. Although, I don’t really have a good answer.
Mab Winthrop– The richest man here and you can’t . . . Why is my last name there? I hate that ugly thing. Delete it now!
Titus Winthrop– That fourth wall was only a suggestion, huh? Let’s get into this before we run a high word count. Who wants to go first?
Chastity Sullivan– Hobbies is a tough one because I’m always so busy with my bakery, tavern, and . . . adult businesses. There’s barely enough time to go to bed or even sleep. Does clothes shopping count because I really enjoy that?
Mab– That’s probably the only one you can talk about in polite company. I relax by stealing things. Jewels are my favorite, but I do love a good, challenging art heist.
Nadia Sylvan– Designing rituals and knitting are what help me relax. You can go next, dear.
Xavier– When I was mortal, I did a lot of wine sampling, but that doesn’t have the same effect since I turned. Reading is one of the few joys I still have these days.
Kai Stavros– Fishing . . . What?
Luther Grathan– I don’t think anybody expected that from a spymaster. I maintain an herb garden outside of the city, which I go to when I need time to myself. This helps me put some extra flavor to my meals when I’m on the road.
Titus– I don’t really have a relaxing hobby. I’ve tried blacksmithing, leatherworking, painting, and going on walks. Nothing really works to calm me down. Best I can do is stare off into space and let my mind wander.
Stephanie Talon– Designing rituals with Lady Sylvan and dancing in the moonlight. There’s a gentle song at night that people don’t pay any attention to.
Lou– *low grumbling in ogre*
Kenneth Decker– I believe he said he makes wood carvings. Very large wood carvings. I brew my own alcohol, which must seem obvious for a dwarf. My best brew is a dark ale, but I’m starting to perfect my whiskey skills. I also enjoy reading about old wars to learn about the history of military strategy.
Bob– I love to-
Everyone– Work with horses
Bob– Jokes on all of you. I was going to say I love to ride horses. Then comes feeding, cleaning, shoeing, hugging, raising, and talking to. Guess that’s everybody.
Mab– Except for one. Would the Dawn Fang progenitor please answer the question? Clyde? Hello? I see you right . . . He left an illusion of himself and snuck out, didn’t he? I’m so going to throttle him when we get home.
Decker– Does that even work against vampires?
Mab– No, but it will make me feel better. All he had to do was answer the question.
Bob– But he did. *waves when everyone looks at him* Clyde likes pulling pranks when he’s bored. That’s what he did. Well, off to the stables. Enjoy our story!
In the wake of the Great Cataclysm, a new predator will emerge within Windemere’s shadow.
For fifty years, Clyde has remained buried while the rest of the vampires have been battling against their enemies. Only Mab believes that her former partner survived his execution and is determined to bring him back to the city of Nyte. Retrieving the vampiric thief is only the beginning as he comes out of the ground stronger, faster, and demonstrating powers that their kind have never witnessed throughout their ancient history. Thrown into the war, Clyde must be careful to hide his true nature while fighting alongside his old friends. Too bad he is having so much fun that keeping his secret might be furthest from his mind.
Will anyone be ready for the rise of the Dawn Fangs?
Charles Yallowitz was born and raised on Long Island, NY, but he has spent most of his life wandering his own imagination in a blissful haze. Occasionally, he would return from this world for the necessities such as food, showers, and Saturday morning cartoons. One day he returned from his imagination and decided he would share his stories with the world. After his wife decided that she was tired of hearing the same stories repeatedly, she convinced him that it would make more sense to follow his dream of being a fantasy author. So, locked within the house under orders to shut up and get to work, Charles brings you Legends of Windemere. He looks forward to sharing all of his stories with you, and his wife is happy he finally has someone else to play with.
