Help Needed for Author of Children’s Books

Please leave your advice in the comments under Marcia’s original blog post – NOT UNDER MY REBLOG 😎

The Write Stuff

I have been asked for help by an author who is ready to publish her first children’s book. She’s interested in self-publishing, and has the finished book with illustrations ready to go, but has no idea what to do next. While I’m very happy with CreateSpace, and could offer her help with them, I’ve read they are not necessarily the best choice for image-intensive books.

Can any of you offer alternative suggestions that I can pass on to this writer? I’d love to be able to point her in the right direction.

THANKS!

  1. I have published 17 books with Create Space but now working on book 18 and having problems downloading it. It is easy enough to contact them and discuss problems with them. I have been on the phone a few times during this latest downloading and they have been patient enough to tell me what is wrong. I think we will be able to rectify the problems and successfully complete the publication.
I would recommend them since I find them more personable than Amazon. Now Amazon is also doing paperbacks. I can’t attest to how easy or not it is to work with them. There are others to try but I have only used Create Space because it is free and easy to use. Some of the others are not free.
    Best wishes with your publishing.

    • Thank you! I’ll pass this along to my friend. Since it’s a children’s book, I’m guessing she’s going to want to go with hardcover, anyway, so that will make a difference, too. For myself, I love CreateSpace, have had very few problems with them, and have found them quick to respond when I have questions.

Hope you get your current problems sorted out soon! Thanks for taking the time to comment! 🙂

  2. Sorry–I have trouble logging in to my WordPress account so will just answer you here. I have found Ingram Spark more cost effective than Create Space.
