M T McGuire grew up on a windy down but now lives in Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk with her partner, son and a large hairy cat.

She has apparently checked all unfamiliar wardrobes for a gateway to Narnia but is disappointed to report that she hasn’t found one yet.

If you like car chases, humour, quirky characters, a hint of romance and a nice simple battle between good and evil you may enjoy her award winning debut novel, Few Are Chosen, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 1. It’s a fantasy cops and robbers – and quite a few other things – story. Actually, you might even like the second one as well, The Wrong Stuff, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 2.

Warning: both books contain car chases, jokes, futuristic technology and sarcasm. Book 2 even contains romance!

• M T McGuire is a humorous fantasy author – the books are quite funny too.
• MTM’s work has been read out on TV, but unfortunately, that was in another life and the piece in question was a statement for Watchdog. So far her novels have remained blissfully undiscovered by all but the most tenacious – and voracious – readers.
• She’s a stay-at-home Mum.
• She really, Really, REALLY loves cars. Like Homer Simpson likes doughnuts.
• The first actual book M T  wrote was Charles the Dragon Slayer – she was only five. so Charles was a taciturn and the tales of his exploits short and pithy.
• It took 13 years to write Few Are Chosen, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 1 – M T McGuire’s first publishable book.
• She secretly fantasises that her car is a snurd.
• She once played the national anthem on a make up remover bottle on TV. She suspects that could have been  her 15 minutes of fame, and that her books may remain undiscovered. “I fear that was my 15 minutes of fame,” she said, “and that my books will remain undiscovered.”
• The green thing in the picture is a marrow, which is kind of like a zuchini, if you’re American, only they get a lot bigger. That one grew to that size in 3 days.
• She’s member of the Gumbee Fantasy Writers’ Guild – seriously, check out the tag on Amazon.

Few Are Chosen, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 1

The Pan of Hamgee isn’t paranoid. There must be some people in K’Barth who aren’t out to get him. Unfortunately, right now, he’s not sure where they are.

His family are dead, and his existence is treason. To survive he does the only thing he can to survive – getaway driving. As if being on the run isn’t bad enough, he finds a magic thimble. He decides to keep it which can only mean trouble. Sure enough, it does. He unwittingly sets himself on a collision course with Lord Vernon, K’Barth’s despot ruler.

Unwillingly, The Pan is forced to make choices and stand up for his beliefs. It’s a challenge, since previously he had no beliefs he was aware of. Faced with a stark moral dilemma, he realises his new found integrity might even stick… if he can stop running.

The Wrong Stuff, K’Barthan Trilogy: Part 2

The Pan of Hamgee is not a natural knight in shining armour. Yet he has escaped from police custody in K’Barth, switched realities and foiled Lord Vernon’s attempt to kidnap Ruth, the Chosen One from the Festival Hall. Pretty good, he thinks.

However, Ruth thinks otherwise. Being pursued by Lord Vernon is bad enough. Now, thanks to The Pan, she’s on the run. They are both alive, of course, but with Lord Vernon on their tail neither of them can be sure how long for.

To save her life The Pan must introduce Ruth, the woman of his dreams, to the person prophesied to be the man of hers. And he knows he must do it fast. Before Lord Vernon finds her. But the gentleman in question is in hiding and no-one knows where. Only The Pan can find him. If he can bring himself to unite them.
